Integration

Verify your SendGrid audience before you send

SendGrid already keeps a Suppressions pool — Bounces, Blocks, Invalid Emails, Spam Reports — that gates every marketing and transactional send from the same account. That list only grows after an address has already cost you sender reputation. Running a Marketing Contacts list through Bounceless before you upload it, and periodically checking your Bounces list against fresh verification results, catches dead and risky addresses while they are still rows in a CSV instead of entries in a suppression log.

How it works

Steps are sourced from SendGrid's official documentation (reference) and have not yet been walked on a live SendGrid account by a Bounceless team member — treat exact menu labels as indicative until this note is removed.

When to run it

Common questions

Does this replace SendGrid's own Suppressions list?

No. SendGrid's Bounces, Blocks, and Spam Reports lists still gate sending exactly as they do today — Bounceless works earlier in the process, checking addresses before they ever reach SendGrid, so fewer of them end up creating suppression entries in the first place. Suppressions still does its job as the final safety net.

Do I need to connect Bounceless to the SendGrid API?

No. The default workflow is CSV-based: export a list from Marketing > Contacts, verify it in Bounceless, then re-import the clean file through Upload CSV. That keeps your SendGrid API keys out of the loop entirely and works the same way regardless of which SendGrid plan or scope your existing API key has.

Can I run this on my Bounces list, not just active contacts?

Yes. Export Suppressions > Bounces to CSV and verify it the same way as a contact list. SendGrid's own documentation notes that removing an address from the Bounces list lets you send to it again, so Bounceless results tell you which suppressed addresses are safe to remove and which should stay blocked.
